Only a 90 minute drive from San Jose, this is a very nice area. The Carrera Biological Reserve is only a few minutes away. Playa Jacó (Jacó Beach)

Jacó Beach is the closest developed beach town to San Jose and is popular with Costa Ricans, backpackers, surfers and younger tourists. It has a lot of hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops. Swimming is possible on the long, pretty beach, but be careful of rip tides. The beach has a couple of life guard stations, a first in Costa Rica. Club del Mar Resort - (Jacó) Nestled in a quiet place surrounded by nature gardens. The Backyard Hotel - (Near Jacó) Playa Hermosa one of the most well-known beaches in Costa Rica. Fuego del Sol - (Near Jacó) An exclusive location for lodging in Costa Rica. Los Sueños Marriott Beach and Golf Resort - (Near Jacó) Costa Rica's premier destination resort. Terraza del Pacifico - Located on Hermosa Beach, surfers specialized hotel.
