Playa El Ocotal

Playa El Ocotal is small but attractive beach that offers good swimming and snorkeling. Ten minutes away by car (4 km) is the town of Coco, which has a several restaurants and a local disco.
Bahia Pez Vela - Centrally located to several national parks, volcanoes, waterfalls, caves and stunning beaches. Nearby is the best diving in the country and, quite possibly, the best fishing as well.
Hotel El Ocotal Beach Resort - The hotel steps up a hill at the south end of the beach. The restaurant and bar on top have a great view. El Ocotal has its own Scuba Diving & Sport Fishing operations.

A beautiful, secluded beach just north of Flamingo Beach which has some large hotels and restaurants.

Tamarindo

Tamarindo, this area's most developed beach resort, is a friendly little village where you can walk to everything in town. It has a wide white-sand beach with a large estuary. It's a great place to kick back and really relax. There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotels recommended here. Any of the hotels can arrange horseback riding, sportfishing, or snorkeling. There are two 18 hole golf courses within a short drive.

There are several large stretches of beach that are extremely beautiful along the coast. These beaches include Playa Langosta, most of Playa Mansita, most of Playa Robalo and all of Playa Avellanas. Playa Mansita and Playa Robalo have small areas of rocky shoreline that are particularly evident during low tide. Playa Langosta and Playa Icacal have the highest quality of beach width, beach length, color of sand, and favorable wave action.

This long, beautiful beach is a little out of the way to get to but worth the effort. From San Jose you can take the Paquera car ferry. You should have a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
