The "Costa Brava" is a 28 ft. custom sportfisher. Cold-molded, it is designed with the angler in mind. It has an open-cockpit configuration with a cuddy cabin.
With its 9 ft. 7 in. beam and modified v-hull, it provides an incredibly stable fishing platform, with 80 sq. ft. of uncluttered cockpit for the stand-up angler or flyfisherman.
Recently repowered with a turbocharged 250HP Cummins Diesel, it cruises at a respectable 18-20 knots.

A full tower with 30' Rupp rigger provides ample shade in the seating area for up to four anglers.
The boat has two stations and full electronics, including GPS, chartplotter, sounder, VHF radio, cellular phone and stereo.

Safety equipment meets all of the USCG requirements for a charter boat. The boat is tournament rigged with a 35-gallon livewell, ready to meet the needs of any light tackle or fly fishing enthusiast.

Captain Bernie Whitney has dedicated a lifetime to fishing.  Fishing Costa Rica for the first time in 1980, he knew that he had arrived, and made it his permanent residence.

In 1989, the "Costa Brava" was commissioned and Costa Brava Charters established in Quepos.  As an 0wner/operator, Bernie ensures that fullest attention is given to his boat, his equipment and the needs of his clients.

He believes in angler participation and "hands-on" fishing.   His philosophy is to "Learn something new every day".  Specializing in light tackle and flyfishing, he has gained a wealth of knowledge in his 21 years of fishing the Pacific waters of Costa Rica; knowledge he eagerly shares with all comers
