This 4700 Ha reserve forms an oasis for wildlife from a large surrounding area. Carara offers a rich biodiversity due to its transitional position between the dry northern forest and the humid tropical forests of the south. Carara has fauna and flora from both ecosystems and a virgin forest that covers most of the park. This reserve is known for its abundant birds and plants and also for being one of the last habitats in Costa Rica of the Scarlet Macaw. Manuel Antonio National ParkLength of tour: full day Departure time: 7:00 am Includes: Air Conditioned Transport, Bi-Lingual Naturalist Guide, Entrance Fee, Lunch, Visit to Quepos and Insurance. Manuel Antonio National Park contains several short trails, all of which are easily accessible and well maintained. These trails provide the best opportunity in Costa Rica to see both White Faced and Squirrel Monkeys. The trails tend to follow the coastline, supplying beautiful views and easy access to some of Costa Rica´s most beautiful white sand beaches. The park includes 12 islands, which serve as seabird sanctuaries. The pacific waters contain numerous dolphins and at times migrating whales are sighted. The parks flora and fauna is impressive with the dominant trees being the Black Locust, Balsa, Monkey Comb, Bastard Cedar and Mayflower. Some 109 species of mammals, including Two-toed Sloth, Raccoons, Coatis and 184 species of birds have been spotted in the park.
