Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge is part of a 1,000-hectare reforestation project and 800-hectare private nature reserve that represent among the last large natural sanctuaries along the Pacific Coast of Central America and are critical the conservation as habitat for the animal population in the region.

The bungalows (15) - a natural lodging experience. The surrounding forest adds indispensable privacy and peace to each unit. Most bungalows sit on a cliff overlooking the private bay and estuary. Some may have a tree growing out through the roof but all enjoy an indoor beach garden hosting your own private outdoor shower.

All bungalows feature one king size bed, a comfortable sofa bed and a private deck. The architect has carefully used mainly local materials and the wooden furniture was custom made by local artisans. The bungalows are connected to the main lodge by an awesome 100-meter suspension bridge crossing a forested canyon.

Getting to Morgan's Rock Hacienda and Ecolodge in Nicaragua is fairly easy the available infrastructure is much better than you would expect. You may choose to take your international flight into Nicaragua's capital Managua, Costa Rica's capital San Jose or the northern Costa Rican city of Liberia.

Hacienda Morgan's Rock is practicing responsible Ecotourism by:

Agro-tourism allows tourists to share and learn about local communities' traditional agriculture ways.
Morgan's Rock Hacienda and Ecolodge is exploring this new trend in travel and taken it to the next level. The product: a unique agro-tourism project in Latin America which combines tree farming and reforestation as well as organic and traditional agriculture. Nicaragua's rich volcanic soil and tropical climate sets the perfect stage for this special project. While enjoying the local flavors, you will also engage in a vital learning experience about reforestation and tree farming, both practiced in the hacienda.

Tours at Hacienda Morgan's Rock take place in the privileged setting of the Hacienda that entails various ecosystems such as primary tropical dry forest, secondary forest, hardwood plantations, pastures, untouched beaches and hills overlooking volcanoes, Lake Nicaragua and the Pacific Ocean.
Sunrise Estuary Kayaking: Take a short walk down to the area where the estuary meets the beach. Ride the sea kayaks out into the estuary observing marine birds and reptiles. Duration 2 hours. $30 per person.
The Magic of Reforestation: Learn and experience the process of reforestation from the planting of the seed to harvest. Learn about deforestation on a global level and how reforestation efforts can help. Plant a tree in the Morgan's Rock tropical dry forest reserve and have a picture taken with you. Over the next years, we will keep sending you pictures of the development of your tree. Duration 3 hours. $40 per person. $20 per additional tree.
Riverbed Nature Walk: See monkeys, tropical birds, reptiles and other dry forest animals while hiking through dry riverbeds and nature trails. Learn about the different kind of plants and trees found in the nature reserve. Duration 2 ½ hours. $25 per person.
Breakfast at the Farm: Agro tourism - Rise early and depart the hotel on horseback or horse carriage. Milking the cows, picking up eggs and preparing a typical hearty breakfast at the house of the animal caretaker is the first part of the tour. Then visit all the animals, the various fields of rice, beans, and vegetables and finish with a visit to the butterfly farm and the flower gardens. Duration 2 ½ hours including breakfast. $30 per person.
Catch your lobster / Local Fishing: Catch fresh fish, you will have the chance to dive for lobster and check out a small island that is the nesting ground for pelicans and other sea birds. Depending on tide and visibility, you might be able to do some snorkeling as well. Duration 3 hours.$50 per person. Max 4 pax.
Horseback Excursion: Explore the more remote areas of the Hacienda and its wildlife on horseback. Duration 3 hours. $30 per person. Max 6 pax.
Self Guided Trail: You will be going down to the beach, following in the estuary into the primary forest and circling back to the hotel.
Masaya volcano and markets, Granada: Visit the Masaya National Park featuring the active Masaya Volcano. Continue on to the city of Masaya and its famous handicraft market. Enjoy a typical Nicaraguan lunch after visiting the Catarina lookout over the Apoyo crater lake and go on to visit the home of Nicaragua's best ceramic manufacturers in San Juan del Oriente (Los pueblos blancos). Finish your day with a visit to the colonial city of Granada. Duration: about 9 hours, price per person $100.
- The Mombacho volcano, Granada and the Isletas: Visit the Mombacho Natural Reserve and its tropical cloud forest. We will take you to the top of this extinct volcano, 1150 meters above sea level. Explore the nature trail around one of the craters, with incredible views to Granada, Lake Nicaragua & the "Isletas". After a typical Nicaraguan lunch, we will visit the colonial city of Granada. The tour ends with a boat ride on Lake Nicaragua to explore some of the 365 small islands called "Isletas" that are remains of an eruption of the Mombacho volcano. Duration: about 9 hours, price per person $100.
- Twin Volcano Overnight - Overlook the two Volcanoes located on Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua and observe the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Sleep in a two story building where the second floor is exposed the elements with a chance to observe the night sky and the lower floor offers comfortable accommodations.
